In the heart of the Flathead Valley, Columbia Falls is located on Highway 2, 15 miles northeast of Kalispell and 17 miles west of Glacier National Park. Herein lies the real life conundrum! There are literally dozens of choices ... and never enough time. What’s first? Spend time in town (plenty of good reasons here), explore Glacier National Park, check out Flathead Lake or go to Big Mountain Ski Resort?
Columbia Falls is the gateway to the Flathead Rivers where the three forks of the Flathead River are part of the Nation's Wild and Scenic River System. If you are thinking of fly fishing, whitewater rafting or a scenic float trip, the vantage points are numerous along the almost 225 miles of river.

Not only is Columbia Falls "The Gateway to Glacier National Park", it is the pathway to a rustic and scenic alternative route to GNP at the Camas Creek Park Entrance. County Road 486, also called the North Fork Road, follows along the North Fork of the Flathead River. It is about 20 miles to Camas Creek Park entrance. Be aware, however, that the last nine miles of this roadway are not currently paved.
The City of Columbia Falls maintains approximately 28 acres of park land. Developed parks include baseball and soccer fields, picnic areas and playgrounds and a waterfall and bandshell. The City operates the Pinewood Family Aquatic Center, a 25 meter competitive swimming pool and a leisure pool with several fixed play features. In and around Columbia Falls, you'll find year round attractions, accommodations, and dining with honest Montana flavor and value. Outdoor recreational opportunities include many beautiful golf courses, a waterslide park that provides a fun-filled day for the entire family in the summer, and miles of groomed snowmobiling trails provide a winter playground for the family during the winter months.
Columbia Falls is home to a variety of industrial businesses, including Columbia Falls Aluminum Company, Plum Creek and Stoltz Land and Lumber. The residents pride themselves on maintaining the "small town" family-oriented character, which is the backbone of this community. Welcome!
