Surrounded by forest lands, Condon is located on Highway 83 only 60 miles south of Kalispell, 20 miles north of Seeley Lake, and 71 miles northeast of Missoula. Condon has been said to have the longest main street anywhere as services and businesses are scattered remotely along a 10-mile stretch of Highway 83, 20 miles north of Seeley Lake.
Condon is more than just a town . . . it’s the Swan Valley. For years it was only Condon, but then local residents petitioned the Post Office to have the name changed to Swan Valley. The Post Office diplomatically decided it would deliver to the same post office in Condon (or Swan Valley) even if people used Swan Valley (Condon) in the address.
You may take your pick when it comes to scenery, too. There’s the Swan Mountain Range and the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area to the east or the Mission Mountains and the Mission Mountain Wilderness Area to the west. Both mountain ranges rise abruptly from the valley floor in this area.
The Swan River offers excellent fishing opportunities. Abundant wildlife and spectacular, scenic beauty make it a draw for hikers, fishermen, and hunters. Snowmobiling reigns supreme with 250 miles of groomed trails. If you prefer the solitude of winter entertainment, the Swan Valley provides cross-country ski trails and miles of back country skiing.
While cities describe neighborhoods and parks, Condon illustrates (with detail) the many overlooks, lookouts, lakes, mountain trails, packers camps, campgrounds, loop trails, rivers, forests, and wildlife refuges in the area. Paints a picture, doesn’t it?

The Swan Valley Centre is a family owned general store that started in the 1930's. We also rent three cabins and have a mechanic and welding shop along with a towing service. We're located on the Swan River at the 42 mile post and between the Bob Marshall and Mission Mountain Wildernesses. The Swan Valley Cafe is across the highway from the general store and cabins.
