Communities: East Glacier

East Glacier is easily accessible by train, plane or car. The Amtrak depot is in the middle of town, Glacier International Airport in Kalispell is close by, Great Falls International Airport is only 132 miles away, and access by car via US Highway 2 is convenient. It is the perfect point to start, headquarter, or end your visit to Glacier National Park.

The people are friendly here and the beautiful location will make your visit something special. East Glacier Park is located on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, encompassing 1.5 million acres from the Rocky Mountains to the Great Plains. It is the home to the Amskapi Pikuni Band of the Blackfeet nation. We invite you to share in their rich culture and traditions, especially visible the second week of July during the annual North American Indian Days in Browning.

East Glacier Park provides the largest variety of attractions, facilities and supplies available in the area, including the magnificent historic Glacier Park Lodge, with a swimming pool and a challenging nine hole golf course open to the public. There are comfortable modern hotels, a youth hostel, RV parks, campgrounds, a cafeteria, snack bars, delis and fine restaurants serving various cuisines. Adding to the list, there’s a general store, grocery stores, service stations, lounges with live entertainment, laundromats, a variety of gift shops, a museum of local interest, an antique shop, car and bicycle rentals, horseback riding, and nearby picnic areas.

Words cannot describe the splendor of Glacier National Park, known as the "Switzerland of North America". This feeling is enhanced by the historic, Swiss style lodges and chalets located throughout the Park. There are over a thousand miles of hiking trails with views of glaciers, brilliant wildflowers, snowcapped peaks, and clear mountain streams. Varied wildlife inhabit the Park including bighorn sheep, mountain goats, ptarmigan, and both black and grizzly bears.
