Glacier Park International Airport

Visitors seeking access to the Rocky Mountain Front and central Montana choose the Great Falls International Airport primarily because Great Falls is a marketing center with good air and highway connections. Scheduled air service is provided by Northwest Airlines and Delta Airlines while regional service is provided by Horizon Air and Big Sky Airlines. There are approximately seventeen flights per day and US Customs offers 24-hour service for Canadian airplane entry into the United States. Services available in the terminal building include rental cars, restaurant/lounge, gift shop, short and long term public parking. The Great Falls International Airport is located approximately 4.5 miles from downtown Great Falls, exit 277 on I-15 south towards Helena.

Montana’s third largest city is located on the Missouri River among the five falls that were both a magnificent spectacle and formidable barrier to early river travel. In the heart of Lewis and Clark territory, this city has always had one of the country's strongest connections to the 200 year old expedition. People here are quick to relate Meriwether Lewis's emotional descriptions of the multiple waterfalls along the Missouri River and the magnitude of Giant Springs, the group's back-breaking eight-day portage, encounters with a grizzly bear and flash floods, and the rollicking Independence Day celebration.

Local pride in the Corps is further exemplified by the location of the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center and the wealth of special events, speakers, and Lewis and Clark tie-ins around the region. But Lewis and Clark were by no means the first to pass through here: Native American tribes populated the plains back to prehistoric times. Non-natives didn't begin to settle the region until the mid-19th century, partly because this area didn't have flashy attractions like the gold strikes farther south in Bannack, Virginia City, or Helena. What Great Falls did provide was opportunity for those who envisioned its future as a hub for agricultural and industry. Steeped in history but seeking to create a niche for itself in the 21st century, Great Falls is an inviting midpoint between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. The city's natural attractions and history, complemented by hearty restaurants, make Great Falls a lively base for exploration in the wake of Lewis and Clark.
