Annual Events: Essex

The Izaak Walton Inn offers specials to accommodate the multitude of guests who come to Essex for the hotels' sponsored annual events. The Snow Rodeo is held in mid-March and is a weekend filled with fun, laughter, and prizes. Rodeo events are done on skis and snowshoes. Have fun riding wild broncos, playing hockey, roping goats, barrel racing, and chuck wagon racing on skis or snowshoes. It's great fun for all. Did we mention the prizes and special room rates?

Who could pass up a chance to attend the Spring Murder Mystery Weekend at the Izaak Walton Inn? Each person is a participant with his or her own tailor-made script. A cocktail party on Friday night, breakfast Saturday morning with time off to enjoy the area, dinner Saturday evening, and Sunday Brunch are all included in the whodunit weekend.

Essexpress Weekend is another Izaak Walton Inn annual event filled with train chasing, presentations on the Great Northern Railway, slide shows, and plenty of opportunities to take pictures of trestles, snow sheds, and trains. It is great for those new to rail fanning. Sunday after breakfast, we’ll load the vans and railfan west after waving at Amtrak on the front porch.
